A brief introduction and how I came to be doing this for enjoyment as well as employment.

I've recently been obsessed about a conscious decision I made recently to do the best I can to communicate an idea without diluting it's sole intention. Being an avid musician in my limited spare time, the ideas you want to communicate can sometimes be quite abstract and when peformed live there are so many hinderances that can get in the way of what it is you're trying to channel right at that moment in time. I have had mainly good experiences in music and do still like to dabble in making music occasionally. But whats really started to interest me is what ways an ideas needs be communicated, what format best suits it's purpose and how thats effectively getting across to people, how it translates the initial thought into a product or piece of art. It's this exploration of the many possible ways to communicate an idea in the 21st Century, that has led me to focus on the use of internet, more specifically, web based technologies.

With the internet being such an influential invention and a powerful communication tool, I eagerly took to drafting up web sites and learning languges and code and was soon taken in by the more interactive side of things and what kept a person's attention span on a particular page. I took it on my self to learn as much as possible since then, with a bit of help from previous employment at the start of this quest. This has led me to focus on:

A selection of my latest web design work.

Polaroid Pic

This design was intended for social web site where pictures were shared and commented on, similar to flicker. I went for a personable design to make it feel like it was your own quiet spot to reflect on the images on Polaroid Pic, with airy blues and semi-transparent div containers using HTML5 & CSS3.

Nick Tearle & the BBB

I was asked by a friend to make them a website for his band, in celebration of them winning a competition recently. It has a slight quaint feel to it with the small font and columns layout. The site has many social media links, including a facebook activity feed and an embedded music player at the top.

MSI LTD.

This was built for my Dad's company and includes serveral slideshows detailing the extent of what work the service undertakes. This design is much squarer and rigid, giving the appearance of a solid and reliable installations firm.

Point2Point Parcels

I was asked to make a website for a haulage and deliveries company and is currently in progress, this is the current photoshop layout I may use to base the design upon, although likely subject to change to suit clients needs.

Mini Parts & Spares

This client requested a re-design of an existing layout. I thought the navigation was key for this project and focused on a good looking and accessible design, making it easy to find if the stock was avaiable. The use of Mysql and PHP with a data entry page was required to load the itinery.UNDER CONSTRUCTION.

Swiss Holidays

This is a design idea i had for a novelty, high end market for rented buildings across the world. The banner is fixed on the left hand side while the pages scroll across, loosely imitating a fairy tale novel.

Space Harbour

Similar to what Apple have done with managing and transferring media files so they're all under one accessible control panel. A stand alone application is a consideration of mine to build in the near future for this website.

hello.

Theres a link from every word on the web...

First use Hello, with that spelling, was used in publications as early as 1833. These include an 1833 American book called The Sketches and Eccentricities of Col. David Crockett, of West Tennessee,[1] which was reprinted that same year in The London Literary Gazette.[2] The word was extensively used in literature by the 1860s.[citation needed] Etymology According to the Oxford English Dictionary, hello is an alteration of hallo, hollo, which came from Old High German , emphatic imperative of to fetch, used especially in hailing a ferryman." It also connects the development of hello to the influence of an earlier form, holla, whose origin is in the French holà (roughly, whoa there!, from French là there). As in addition to hello, hallo and hollo, hullo and (rarely) hillo also exist as variants or related words, the word can be spelt using any of all five vowels. Telephone The use of hello as a telephone greeting has been credited to Thomas Edison; according to one source, he expressed his surprise with a misheard Hullo.[6] Alexander Graham Bell initially used Ahoy (as used on ships) as a telephone greeting. However, in 1877, Edison wrote to T.B.A. David, the president of the Central District and Printing Telegraph Company of Pittsburgh: Friend David, I do not think we shall need a call bell as Hello! can be heard 10 to 20 feet away. What you think? Edison - P.S. first cost of sender & receiver to manufacture is only $7.00. By 1889, central telephone exchange operators were known as 'hello-girls' due to the association between the greeting and the telephone
